Christopher McMahan

Christopher "Kip" McMahan is a Principal with Steffian Bradley Architects, joining the Boston office in Fall 2007. Kip is a design architect with 23 years of experience on projects throughout New England and New York. His work has centered on the planning, programming, and design of large-scale commercial and mixed-used developments as well as projects for universities and religious organizations. Kip's past projects as a Vice President at Robinson Green Beretta in Providence include the Courtyard by Marriott at Union Station, LaSalle Academy Science Building, additions to the Community College of Rhode Island's Knight and Liston campuses, and Brown University's School of Public Health consolidation.

Kip has served as a volunteer on boards and charities for various organizations, including the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra Board of Overseers, serving as board president of the Music School when it merged with the Philharmonic in 2000; Rhode Island Citizens for the Arts; and the Providence Preservation Society, which awarded him the President's award in 2004. In 2006, he received the Arts Advocate Award from the Rhode Island Arts and Business Council. Kip is currently serving his fourth year as Chairman of the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.

Kip received bachelor degrees in Fine Arts and in Architecture from the RI School of Design ('83,"84), where he has frequently returned for studio juries over the past 15 years. Born in New York City, he lives with his wife Pamela Harrington in Providence.
