Nancy Chapman was born in Providence, RI. She has lived in Hanover, NH; Chastleton,
England; and most recently,Saunderstown, RI. She received her B. A. from Goddard
College, Plainfield, Vt. and M. F. A. in Visual Arts, Vermont College, Montpellier,
VT. She has traveled and studied in England, France, Belgium and Japan.
Ms Chapman is an adjunct professor in the Art Education Department at Rhode Island
College, Providence, RI. She serves on the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.
Her studio is located at Helme House, Kingston, RI. She was awarded the 2003 Rhode
Island Art Educator of the Year by the National Art Education Association. Recently,
she won the C. Gordon Harris Award for best painting for the South County Arts
Association’s All Members 2007 Annual Exhibit.
Ms. Chapman’s paintings have been exhibited in group invitational and
juried exhibits throughout New England: Hera Gallery, Wakefield , RI; Bannister
Gallery at Rhode Island Collage, Providence, RI; Krause Gallery at Moses Brown
School, Providence, RI; Capital One, Providence, RI; AVA Gallery, Lebanon, NH;
and Woods Gallery, Montpellier, VT. Her work has also been exhibited in invitationals
in Texas and Australia.
