Ann A. Clanton, is a community advocate, Campaign
For A Healthy Rhode Island – Tobacco Control program, Advocate for Smoke Free
States, for the East Providence Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force coordinating
press conferences, special events and forums. Additionally she has worked
as a coordinator for the National Association of Realtors’ Grassroots/Political
Programs in Washington, DC and as a program administrator for the District of
Columbia Department of Recreation and Parks. She has worked in media relations
as a public relations associate of the Greater Washington Urban League; as a public
relations consultant for Roberta Segal and Associates; and as a conference associate
of MayaTech Corporation in Silver Spring, Maryland. Ms. Clanton has served
as a volunteer for the International Institute of Rhode Island and is a founding
member of The Links Incorporated Greater Providence, Rhode Island Chapter.
Ms. Clanton studied journalism at Howard University and holds a Bachelor of Science
in Public Administration from Roger Williams University. This is Ms. Clanton’s
second appointment to the Arts Council’s Board, having previously been appointed
by former Governor Lincoln Almond.
