In seeking to build the capacity of these organizations, the EAP recognizes the broader role they play in strengthening their communities including cultural preservation, education,

The National Performance Network, including the Visual Artists Network (NPN/VAN), is beginning a nationwide search for cultural organizations to join its Network of NPN/VAN Partners. 

What is NPN/VAN?

NPN/VAN is a relationship-based network of presenters and exhibitors that serve and connect diverse cultural organizations, artists and communities. Annually, NPN/VAN provides over 1.5 million dollars in support to artists through its network of 71 Partners. NPN/VAN creates paid opportunities for artists to create, exhibit, and tour work to diverse communities across the globe. Levitt Pavilions Issues CFA for 2016 Outdoor Music Concert Program

Levitt Pavilions is a national nonprofit that exists to strengthen the social fabric of America. The organization aims to empower communities to transform neglected outdoor spaces into welcoming destinations where the power of free, live music brings people together and invigorates community life.

To that end, Levitt Pavilions has issued a Call for Applications for its 2016 Levitt AMP [Your City] Grant Awards program.

Matching grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to a minimum of ten U.S.-based nonprofits or municipalities partnering with a nonprofit to present the Levitt AMP [Your City] Music Series, which involves a minimum of ten free outdoor concerts presented over ten consecutive weeks between April 1, 2016, and November 20, 2016.

To be eligible, all proposed Levitt AMP [Your City] Music Series must take place in the United States, in small to midsized towns and cities with a population of up to 400,000 people, and within a metropolitan area with a population of no more than 1 million. For towns or cities located within a metropolitan area with a population that exceeds 1 million, the town or city must be at least twenty-five miles from the metro area’s anchor city.

Applicants must demonstrate a successful track record of presenting professional quality concerts or community events, or apply with a partner organization or individual that has done so. Applicants also must demonstrate dollar-for-dollar matching funds from other sources such as foundations, municipalities, 501(c)(3) nonprofits, and/or businesses.

Online public voting in November will determine the top twenty finalists. Levitt Pavilions will then review the top twenty applications in December and announce the winners in January 2016.

Crosswinds Poetry Journal seeks English language poetry, without restrictions as to form or content. Although we have a weakness for well-done nature oriented poetry, we seek poetry of all kinds. Please send us up to THREE (3) poems.  No postal submissions. Reading fee is $3, which covers up to three poems.

Poems should be in 12 point font and there is a 65 characters per line limit, (including spaces and punctuation). We prefer poems that will fit on one page (34 lines including stanza breaks) but will, in very rare cases, publish longer poems that we deem exceptional. Reports in 2-4  months. Sometimes comments on rejections.

National call to artists from TN: RFQ for David Crockett Bust

Deadline: Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Budget: Up to $45,000

The Tennessee Arts Commission on behalf of the Tennessee State Capitol Commission and the Tennessee General Assembly requests qualifications from professional artists to create a bust to commemorate David Crockett.

This memorial four-foot bronze bust will be displayed on the 2nd floor of the Tennessee State Capitol Building in Nashville for visitors to appreciate. The project is open to established visual artists living in the United States with a minimum of five (5) years professional experience working on public art projects. Applicants must have knowledge of fabrication and installation of busts or similar sculpture in bronze. Three (3) references familiar with previous projects are required.

This RFQ/National Call to Artists will result in a short list of finalists, who will then be asked to develop final proposals for the David Crockett bust and make a presentation to the selection committee in Nashville.

The guidelines and online application are now available for Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s 2015-2016 USArtists International program. The program supports performances by American dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists at important cultural festivals and arts marketplaces anywhere in the world outside the United States and its territories.
The application deadline for the first of three grant rounds of the 2015 program is Friday, September 4, 2015 for projects taking place between December 15, 2015 and December 14, 2016.
Additional deadlines for the 2015-2016 program cycle include:

  • December 4, 2015

for projects taking place between March 15, 2016 and March 14, 2017

  • April 15, 2016 for projects taking place between July 15, 2016 and July 14, 2017

The Clark Hulings Fund 2015 Business Accelerator Grant

The fund offers targeted financial assistance and business support to professional visual artists to help them boost their careers and succeed as managers of their art businesses. Applicants must detail exactly how the grant would help them undertake, improve, or expand a specific project. Examples of activities covered by the grant include mounting, casting, creating marketing materials, and transporting work to an exhibition. The fund does not support performance, literary or commercial work.

Timing: Applications accepted from September 1 through 30, 2015

The gallery spaces at the Block Island Airport and T.F. Green Airport are accepting art submissions for their 2016 exhibitions.  The gallery program, which includes Block Island Airport Gallery and GREEN SPACE, is a partnership between RISCA and the Rhode Island Airport Corporation that promotes outstanding work by artists living and working in Rhode Island.  The spaces will present art to an ever-changing audience of local, national and international travelers.

Works in all media will be considered.  Note that the Block Island Airport Gallery is best suited to moderately sized works, while GREEN SPACE includes several large walls and open spaces that are particularly suitable for large scale works.

Eligibility:  All participating artists must be RI residents.  No students please.

Entry Deadline:  October 1, 2015

Selection:  Artists will be selected for the 2015 exhibitions by a review panel that will include practicing artists, arts professionals and community members. Artists included in the 2016 exhibitions will receive a $100 stipend for participating in the program.

Artists are encouraged to submit for consideration to both galleries. Artists are encouraged to re-submit to the galleries, even if not selected in previous cycles. Artists who have exhibited previously are ineligible for new consideration for a period of two years.

Artwork is hung at gallery coordinator’s discretion, and gallery coordinator reserves the right of final selection of artwork and approval of installation. Artwork is not insured by the galleries during exhibition; artists are encouraged to carry their own insurance. Artwork may be listed for sale if desired, and any sales are direct without commission to the galleries.

Rhode Island Outsider Art – Call for Participants

RHD-RI is an arts based non-profit located in downtown Pawtucket that works with artists and musicians with disabilities in order to promote them and their creations and to raise public awareness of their diverse skills and voices. In conjunction with the Pawtucket Arts Festival, RHD-RI is excited to be hosting the First Annual Rhode Island Outsider Art Fair, showcasing the work of a wide ranging neuro diverse and uniquely abled group of nationally and internationally shown and recognized artists. The festival will include art by members of local programs like RHD, Top Drawer and Flying Shuttles Studios and feature numerous other esteemed New England and New York based programs and individual artists who have shown at such prestigious events as the INTUIT Art Fair in Chicago, the St. Louis Outsider Art Fair, the New York Outsider Art Fair and the Museum of Everything. This event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19th from 10am to 4pm and is free and open to the public.

MASS MoCA Studios – An Assets for Artists Program

The Studios at MASS MoCA will offer two tracks: artists can apply for self-directed professional development residencies of 1-4 weeks in length, and/or enroll in week-long “workshops-in-residence” with individual studio space and housing complemented by instructor-led programming.

Track 1: Self-Directed Residencies for Artists & Writers

Assets for Artists invites artists and writers at all career stages and in all disciplines to apply for professional skill and career development residencies at MASS MoCA in October/November 2015.

Artists- and writers-in-residence will receive:

Private, furnished studio space at MASS MoCA, available 24/7;
Free access to Makers’ Mill (a printmaking and fiber arts makerspace on Main Street in North Adams, offering shared use of letterpress, silkscreen and book-making equipment, as well as looms, sewing machines and work tables);
Housing (private bedroom, shared kitchen & bath) directly across the street from the museum;
Seven communal meals per week;
MASS MoCA member benefits for the duration of the residency, including free access to the museum’s galleries and discounts on performing arts events and museum store purchases;
Optional one-on-one artist-focused financial and business counseling through MASS MoCA’s renowned Assets for Artists program.

DDCF Accepting Grant Proposals to Strengthen Performing Arts

Through its Fund for National Projects, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation awards up to $1 million in grants annually in support of important national projects in the professional nonprofit dance, jazz, presenting, and/or theater fields. Specifically, the fund supports projects that strengthen the national infrastructure of the nonprofit performing arts fields and those that improve conditions for the national community of performing artists in professional nonprofit dance, jazz, and theater.

Eligible projects must engage a broad constituency, occur once (or periodically) rather than annually, and have the potential to significantly impact a field, including research projects aimed at assessing the national health of professional nonprofit arts groups or of individual professional artists; special national convenings for an entire field (beyond traditional national annual conferences); and projects that address unique circumstances affecting an entire field. Highest priority will be given to projects that improve the health of the foundation’s priority performing arts fields and do not duplicate ongoing efforts or existing services.

Grant amounts will range between $60,000 and $200,000.

The fund does not support projects by single performing arts entities; ongoing annual conferences; individually produced conferences, performances, or symposia; re-granting programs; translations or commissions of new works; production start-up activities/production costs; arts education; avocational arts activities; capital projects; or endowments.

Heritage Preservation Seeks Nominations for Collection Preservation Award

Heritage Preservation, in partnership with the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, is seeking nominations for the AIC/Heritage Preservation Ross Merrill Award for Outstanding Commitment to the Preservation and Care of Collections.

The award is presented annually to an organization in North America that has been exemplary in the importance and priority it has given to conservation concerns and in the commitment it has shown to the preservation and care of its cultural property within the context of its broader mission, which may include interpretation, research, scholarship, education, and/or public outreach.

Anyone may submit a nomination. Nominees should be an organization of any size responsible for cultural property that includes collections, historic sites, and/or structures. Cultural property is defined as material that may be artistic, historic, scientific, religious, or social and constitutes an invaluable and irreplaceable legacy that must be preserved for future generations. Collections can include fine arts, library and archival materials, natural history, natural science, musical instruments, textiles, technology, archaeology, ethnography, and photography.

RISD Museum Accepting Applications for Artist Fellowship

The RISD Museum at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence is accepting applications for its 2016-2017 Artist Fellowships.

Through the program, two artists will receive stipends of $10,000, professional development support, and the opportunity to work closely with the museum’s collections and staff members to explore new ideas and ways of working. With support and mentorship from curatorial staff, conservators, and educators, artist fellows will investigate the museum’s collections in their proposed areas of interest and engage in research that benefits their personal practice and delves deeply into ideas, materials, and processes. Fellows also will be provided with access to RISD faculty, technicians, and libraries; may audit select RISD graduate courses; and will receive full scholarships to specific RISD continuing education courses. In collaboration with museum staff, fellows will share their work with the public through talks, demonstrations, performances, publications, and other formats.

The goals of the program are to enable artist fellows to carry out object-based research, learn new skills, and create new work; foster public interest in dynamic creative practice by connecting artists with the museum’s audiences; provide professional development opportunities to artists, including workshops in financial management, writing, documentation, and presentation; and create links between the RISD Museum’s collection and current practices in art and design.

To be eligible, artists must have resided in the Providence area for at least a year prior to the application deadline. Artists and designers working in any medium are eligible to apply. In addition, artists should be at or approaching a critical shift, transition, or change in their career. This could mean an emerging artist establishing a practice or an established artist at a significant moment of creative or professional development.

The program application will become available on September 1, 2015, and must be received no later than October 1, 2015.

Aaron Copland Fund for Music Invites Applications for Contemporary American Music Recording Projects

In keeping with his lifelong devotion to contemporary music, American composer Aaron Copland created the Aaron Copland Fund for Music and bequeathed to it a large part of his estate. Officially launched in 1992, the fund’s purpose is to encourage and improve public knowledge and appreciation of contemporary American music.

To advance this mission, the fund’s Recording Program is designed to support projects that document and provide wider exposure for the music of contemporary American composers and/or develop audiences for contemporary American music through the distribution of recorded performances in physical and online media, as well as the production of new recordings of contemporary American music and the reissuance of significant recordings that are no longer available. Preference will be given to first recordings, although reissues of significant recordings are eligible if the music is not available from other sources such as ArkivMusic, Amazon, or other Internet services at the time of application. The fund is interested primarily in supporting recordings of works by living American composers and those who are recently deceased and favors works that were composed more recently.

In general, grants will not exceed $20,000.

Proposals may be submitted by nonprofit professional performance ensembles, presenting institutions, and nonprofit or commercial recording companies. Non-professionals and students are not eligible. Projects sponsored by universities and similar educational institutions are not eligible.

FirstWorks seeks Grant Writer-Full Time

FirstWorks seeks a strategic-thinking, detail-oriented individual with superior writing skills to serve as a grant writer. The successful candidate will be able to craft funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner. Candidates must possess an ability to work well under pressure and the ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a succinct form. Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential.

FirstWorks is a growing non-profit arts organization dedicated to enhancing the cultural, educational and economic vitality of our community by engaging audiences with world-class performances, festivals, and education programs. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and write grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, effectively communicating FirstWorks’ mission and programs.
  • Maintain calendar of grant activities (letters of inquiries, application deadlines, and reports). Track, coordinate, and complete activities to ensure timely submission of proposals and reports.
  • Manage a broad portfolio of funders from foundation, corporate, and government sectors.
  • Initiate and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation staff and program officers.
  • Create written communications to consistently message FirstWorks’ value, including acknowledgements, individual contribution letters, reports, program descriptions, donor profiles, and invitations.
  • Research, identify, prospect, and cultivate new funding sources from local and national foundations, corporate, and government agencies.
  • Work closely with the Executive Artistic Director to incorporate program development and long-range goals into organizational messaging.



  • Bachelor’s degree required with minimum 3 years of experience working with cultural nonprofits, including development and writing experience
  • Excellent writer, creative and strategic thinker with ability to clearly articulate organizational mission, programs, and present FirstWorks in a compelling and effective manner
  • Familiarity with issues related to arts and education trends; understanding of and belief in FirstWorks’ mission
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and initiative
  • Welcoming presence: ability to generate enthusiasm for the organization, elicit cooperation, and get information over the phone, via email, and in person
  • Facile knowledge/user of software applications (i.e., word processing, spreadsheets, email, search engines, prospect research tools; databases), familiarity with SalesForce/Patron Manager a plus
  • Commitment to mission of FirstWorks
