“i” premiere w/ RISCA Film Fellowship Winner Raphael Lyon
The feature length documentary i, co-directed by local filmmaker Raphael Lyon and Argentina-native Andres Ingoglia, will be screening at the Columbus Theater in Providence on Thursday, August 31st at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $5 and available at the door.
i is a meditation on the relationship between media and power as manifest by the world’s largest all volunteer network of media activists, The Independent Media Center Network, or “Indymedia.” The film contains up-close footage of the Argentinean economic collapse of 2001, the social uprisings that ensued, and the Indymedia activists who chronicled the events as they unfolded. No Logo Author Naomi Klein said of the film: “i positively vibrates with the energy and creativity of the movement it documents. Beautiful, intellectual, riotous, it fits in no box — and no blurb! Just see it!”
i had its US premier at the Ann Arbor Film Festival in March, and the Providence screening will kick-off an international tour beginning in September 2006, in which Lyon and Ingoglia will travel with the film to share their first hand experiences with student groups, activists, filmmakers and universities across the US, South America, and Europe.
