THE SPACE AT ALICE call for entries

IT’S NOT SO BIG, NOT SO PRICEY 2006

Opens: December 7-31, 2006

Gallery Hours:  Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday in December from 4-7 PM.

 THE SPACE AT ALICE is looking for regional artists to submit work for
IT’S NOT SO BIG, IT’S NOT SO PRICEY 4. This annual holiday exhibition in downtown Providence gives 70% of the retail price back to the artist. If you are interested in submitting work for consideration, please read the attached Information for Artists  for submission requirements and send back the Proposal to Exhibit Form with the required materials by Wednesday, November 15, 2006 to: Rebecca Siemering, Arts and Business Council of Rhode Island, 10 Dorrance Street, Suite 102, Providence, RI, 02903
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Each artist may submit from 4-6 pieces.  We will sell any multiples of pieces that are available.  Each piece should be no larger than 20” x 24” and cost no more than $300. Deadline for entries is Wednesday, November 15, 2006.

General Requirements to Exhibit 

Artists must submit a Proposal to Exhibit Form and 4-6 samples of work in either slide format, 300 dpi images on a cd, or by emailing .jpegs no larger than 72 dpi  by e-mail to the Arts and Business Council of Rhode Island (10 Dorrance Street
Suite 102, Providence, RI 02903, prgmmgr@artsandbusinessri.org). The proposal will be evaluated by a review panel.  The exhibition will run from December 7, 2006 – December 31, 2006.
 Special preview exhibition on December 5.


When a proposal is accepted and scheduled, the artist(s), will be required to do the following:

  • Drop off work during the scheduled times
  • Supply an artist’s statement, resume and price list for all art work via email/CD.
  • Staff between 4-6 viewing hours scheduled in advance (gallery hours are Thur, Fri, Sat 4-7pm.)
  • Host an Artist’s Reception.
  • Pick up unsold work during scheduled times
  • Sign and return an Exhibition Contract and Agreement.

Commission Schedule

The commission for the sale of art work of any kind from The Space at Alice is as follows:
70 % to the Artist
30 % to “The Space Fund”

Definition of “The Space Fund”

The Space Fund is a pool of funds that will be used to maintain, insure and pay for the utilities at The Space at Alice.  The Space Fund will produce for each artist or group of artists accepted to exhibit, 1,500 postcards to market the exhibition, of which 900 will be posted via regular mail, 250 will be given to the artists for their personal distribution and 350 will be held back by the The Space at Alice for “drop” distribution.

Rules and Regulations

Any individual or group exhibiting or using the space will agree to comply to the Rules and Regulations of the Space as well as sign an Exhibition Contract and Agreement.
