“Li’l Rhody!” Returns to RIPBS!

Lil RhodyRhode Island PBS will begin airing the award winning series of children’s specials, “Li’l Rhody!” on Monday, December 25 at 11:30 A.M. The series of four episodes will also be broadcast on RIPBS December 27 and 28 at 11:30 A.M. and 12:00 Noon, with additional airings December 30 at 7:30 A.M. and 8:00 A.M.   

In the latest episode, “Got’ta Have More Art!” has Dave and Red off in search of more places where kids can go enjoy art! To start, they visit the Hannaway Blacksmith Shop in Lincoln. They also visit puppeteer Dan Butterworth, the Young Fish School of World Drumming, and Urban Arts. They also go see some Ice Dancing, the Mount St. Charles Summer Arts Camp, the Culinary Arts Museum in Providence and more!

More...Previous shows also shown during the week include “You Got’ta Have Art!” To start, Dave and Red visit the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace Museum and The State House in Rhode Island.  For a look at art schools, they drop in on the Beacon Charter School in Woonsocket. At All Children’s Theater, they watch a rehearsal in progress and at Jump Dance Company… Red gets a chance to struts his stuff! The locally produced puppet show has received national recognition, having been been awarded two Silver Telly Awards and three Communicator Awards.
Also being broadcast during the week on the first two episodes, Dave & Red explore the secrets of the sea at Mystic Seaport Museum! They also explore Rhode Island on Bike! Featured too is a visit to the show by the animated Family Quohaug Singers! If you like the water, you’ll want to watch the kayaking segment! Lots to do at Roger Williams Park! Dave & Red explore a few of the attractions there!
Dave & Red take the Rhode-mobile on another adventure, traveling to Pawtuxet to visit a Colonial Encampment. The Pawtuxet Rangers give us a tour of the site. A toy vender also shows us “the ropes!” On the program too… a trip to Newport to see a kite festival! While there they drop in at the New England Aquarium Exploration Center! FISH! FISH! FISH! Another treat is a visit to the Botanical Gardens at Roger Williams Park to see plants, flowers and the special butterfly exhibit!
