Portsmouth Arts Guild Offers Open Studio Sessions
The Portsmouth Arts Guild is offering an Open Studio With Still Life and/or Model, monitored by Wendy Crooks.Mrs. Crooks is a well-recognized artist, working primarily in oils and pastels. She has exhibited widely, and has won many awards and honors.
Interested artists will come together to paint in any medium, in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. There is no instruction provided, and all are invited to participate –one does not need to be a member of the Guild. The open studio will take place on Mondays, beginning April 23, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Portsmouth Arts Center, 2679 East Main Road, Portsmouth, R.I. 02871. The cost is $10.00 for non-members and $5.00 for PAG members. Artists may come once, weekly, or when ever they have the time.

PAG To Offer Digital Photography Workshop
A workshop entitled Copying Artwork With Your Digital Camera, with Jan Armor is one of a series of classes and workshops offered by the Portsmouth Arts Guild this spring.With some fifteen years of digital photography experience, Jan Armor is a fine-art photographer who has taught at URI, Newport Art Museum, and Blithewold, among other places. He has received many grants and awards, and has widely exhibited.
The participants will learn how to make good quality digital files of their own two-dimensional art during this workshop. This skill is necessary for artists who plan to submit work to juried shows, and/or to use the web. Students are asked to bring their digital camera, instructional manual, and one piece of their art. Those interested are asked to visit www.armorphoto to view Mr. Armor’s work. The workshop will take place on Saturday, May 12, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon, at the Portsmouth Arts Center, 2679 East Main Road, Portsmouth, R.I. 02871. The tuition is $37.00 and $32.00 for PAG members. PAG Offers Workshop On Importance of Light In Painting A series of classes offered by the Portsmouth Arts Guild this spring includes one entitled Light Is The Subject, with Rosalie Nadeau. In this three day workshop, Rosalie will explore what she has termed “The ABZ’s of Painting”. The focus will be on Alla Prima painting and the ability to sustain the Zen energy of process throughout, working wet into wet.Rosalie Nadeau is a nationally renowned painter and educator, with extensive teaching experience. Her vibrant paintings illustrate internationally distributed art books and magazines. A popular instructor, versatile in both pastel and oil, she shares her enthusiasm in her intensive on-location workshops. The Portsmouth Arts Guild Offers Course In Digital Photography
One of a series of courses offered by the Portsmouth Arts Guild this spring is entitled Traveling With A Digital Camera, taught by Jan Armor. In this five hour workshop, Mr. Armor will help the student make better digital images on their next trip. His knowledge from years of international travel, combined with his digital photography knowledge, will help the student take images that are not only memories of their travels, but ones suitable for exhibition. The workshop will address safe storage of the images, organization, and presentation.
Jan Armor is a fine-art photographer, and multi-media producer, with over fifteen years of digital photography experience. He has combined his experience as a world traveler with his ability as a fine-art photographer to produce award-winning photographs from far-away places.
