Shannon Casey of Foster, RI will share a collection of oil paintings which emerged from her exploration of the relationship between music and art, inspired by her undergraduate research on synesthesia, a neurological disorder in which a person involuntarily experiences a certain sensory response as an effect of another, i.e. seeing music or hearing pictures. Casey’s fascination with the phenomenon led her to investigate it further, using painting as a vehicle of exploration.

Margarita Viera, a newcomer to the outsider art world, will showcase a selection of paintings and jewelry from her growing portfolio. Viera has been studying painting and jewelry design at The Artists’ Exchange since 2004, and is thrilled to have her first opening.
