New Visual Literacy Series at PPL
http://www.provlib.org/happening/events/art.html
The Providence Public Library has announced a new adult program
series beginning this spring at Central Library. The PPL Visual
Literacy Slideshow Series will provide a forum for exhibiting and non-
exhibiting artists to present their work to the larger community in a
public setting, according to Program Coordinator Lisa Miller. The
series will run on the third Thursday of each month, March through
December 2008. The Library will be a stop on the 2008 Gallery Night
Providence tour.
Applications are now being accepted from exhibiting and other
presenters/artists, designers and artisans, teachers, and students in
the community. Applicants do not have to be associated with a gallery
or institution to qualify for inclusion. Applicants should be
interested in presenting their work in terms other than purely
technical. To apply, artists should mail or email a letter of
interest, a short bio, and a brief description of their work.
Selection will be based on the merits of the work, and on its
potential to stimulate a discussion within our community. The
deadline is January 31, 2008. Complete information is available on
the Library Web site. Artists will be contacted by February 11, 2008
if they have been selected. Questions may be directed to:
lbundy@provlib.org or 455-8155.
