IDENTITY: A Multimedia Youth Forum after Friday Night Live

Everett Dance Theatre and Carriage House present:IDENTITY: A Multimedia Youth Forum

Friday, March 7, 2008 @ 8:15 (following Friday Night Live)

Carriage House Stage (7 Duncan Avenue, Providence)

FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Does your race or sexual orientation define who you are?

Do others see you as you see yourself?

What were the defining events that made you who you are?

Does the way we define ourselves change like the fashions?

Are you who you want to be?

Can you identify yourself through mental illness?

Are you like a chameleon that changes its color depending on its

environment?

Through the youth¹s own stories, monologues, interviews and videos the forum

will explore their own sense of identity as well as the outside elements

that shape their character. This forum will respond to popular conceptions,

presents multiple perspectives, encourage lively discussion, and shed light

on the ideas and attitudes of young people today.

The forum¹s special advisor Bradford Martin, Associate Professor of History

at Bryant University,

will offer a unique humanities perspective to IDENTITY: A Multimedia Youth

Forum.

IDENTITY: A Multimedia Youth Forum is made possible through major funding

support from the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, an independent

state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
