Foster, RI – Nine artists whose studios are located in Foster, Scituate and Glocester, Rhode Island will open their art studio doors to the public on Saturday, November 1, 2008. This is the eighth annual celebration of Artist Open Studios (AOS) – an event that draws hundreds of visitors (many of them return visitors) to scenicNorthwest Rhode Island. Admission to the event is free.
What makes AOS unique is the fact that the entire group of artists will be demonstrating their art and craft-making skills throughout the day. Many of the participating studios will also invite their guests to have a hands-on experience. Studios are located in historic buildings and/or in scenic locations. Whether your passion is for blown glass, painting, sculpture, pottery, stone carving, or wood- turning, there’s an exhibiting artist eager to demonstrate how their art is created.
This year’s artists include:
Neal Drobnis – cast and blown glass
Christine Wendel Farrugia – charcoals, color pastels Robert Fishman – functional wheel thrown porcelain and stoneware
Thomas Grabbert – functional, decorative high fire porcelain Jim McGrath – wood turnings
Sarah Mutton – oil paintings Karin Sprague Stone Carvers – headstones and wall plaques
Bev Thomas – paintings, painted furniture Earle Thurber – abstract acrylic and mixed media paintings and prints
Admission is free and the tour is self guided. For more information, including a map with contact information and studio locations, please visit our web site: www.artistopenstudios.org
