NEW ADULT IMPROV at the CARRIAGE HOUSE STAGE
Taught by Dorothy Jungels, Marvin Novogrodski and Clayon McFarlane!
Starting Feb 2 through March 30 (No Class Feb 16)
; Mondays; 6:30 – 8:00
EIGHT CLASSES for $96

This improvisation class will be based on Keith Johnstone’s IMPRO FOR STORYTELLERS. The book can be picked up at Books on the Square in Wayland Square.  Though useful the book is by no means required for this course.

Keith Johnstone’s techniques specialize in releasing an individual’s potential within the context of group work.  He became notorious as the acting coach who would shout “Be more boring!” and “Don’t concentrate!” to students desperately striving for “Originality”. IMPRO FOR STORYTELLERS shows how to train negative people to be positive, clever people to be obvious , and anxious people not to try their best.

Friday Night Live presents
THE OPEN STAGE!
February 6, 2009 @ 8pm

Friday Night Live proudly presents THE OPEN STAGE, a monthly open forum for young performers featuring house dance troupe Case Closed and hosted by Everett Dance Theatres Sokeo Ros. THE OPEN STAGE will take place each month from 8-10pm, immediately following the Friday Night Live improv comedy show at 7pm.

Offering young people a positive, artistic environment, this new event gives local youth performers a forum to display their talents in front of a live audience. Each show will feature an opening act by local hip hop theatre troupe Case Closed as well as a different headliner each month. Audience members will have the opportunity to sign up for a 5-minute performance slot before each show.

THE OPEN STAGE is produced and run by students of the Carriage House. All proceeds from these performances helps support free programs for underprivileged youth at the school. $5 at the door

Coming in April 2009…

Everett Dance Theatre presents the World Premiere of Aaron Jungels’
SILAS THE TEENAGER

Silas the Teenager is a multi-media theater piece that uses video, text, movement, and kinetic sculptural set elements to explore autism in teens. Aarons earlier portrait of Silas at 10 years old was praised by the Providence Phoenix as,  At times heart-wrenching, at times hilarious nothing short of brilliant in its artistic representation of how the mind of a differently-abled child might work.
