Annual Punk Rock Winter Ball At AS220

This Saturday, put on your weirdest or fanciest duds for the 2ndAnnual Punk Rock Winter Ball and get yourself downtown to the ole’

AS220 performance space. St Jude, Dirty Dirty, LLove, Rare Form and

Icon Gallery perform! No cool clothes…no cool show—–sorry, but

thems the rules!! However if you show up around here at noon, learn

to crochet , and then wile away the afternoon fixing yourself up

something nice with the crafty folks at Crafternoon, I am sure you

could end up the belle of the ball or the prince of the party. There

will be a photo booth, lots of dancing, and stuff to consume. If it

wasn’t a great event…. there wouldn’t be a sequel would there??

New gallery shows at all of AS220′s galleries open this Sunday. Even

the youth gallery in the hall of Empire St.’s second floor has a new

mixed media group show up; don’t be shy about going up there to check

it out! This month, Empire St.’s ground floor exhibits new collage

paintings by Deb Hickey, paintings by Amy Ryan, and glass chandeliers

by Jenine Bressner and the AS220 Project Space at 93 Mathewson St

presents new sculptures by Christopher Thomas and “The Sunday Bullet”

an installation by S.W. Dinge. Wonderful way to recover if you attend

the aforementioned Punk Rock Winter Ball!

funnybone fondlers, The Sparkling Beatniks: Richard Goulis, Hannah

Devine, & Kate Lohman. Plus, special guest performers every month,

unpredictable pre-show shenanigans, a talking squirrel and more!

Coors Light is a can full of glowing and growing ambitions and

obsessions, void of explanations and tried and tired reconciliations.

A palace of bliss and a place of iron mountain and christmas, come

along for the ride of family sorrow and wallow and maybe you’ll be

happy again tomorrow.

Stone Leaf is a rock band. Started in October of ’07, Stone Leaf is

made up of 4 members. The band has been playing shows since January

’08 at clubs such as: The High Noon Saloon(CT.), Backstage Pass(CT.),

The Living Room, Jerky’s live music hall, Club Hell, As220 and

others. All Stone Leaf’s members have their own creativity to

contribute to the wide range style of music that the band plays. Now

with a new drummer and bass player the band plans on keeping most of

their previous songs but will also be writing more tunes. Keep your

eyes peeled because you never know when they will throw another song

up…maybe even a video!

The Valar is just a crazy bunch of kids trying to make some music.

Right now they are in the process of writing new material, that may be

recorded eventually (if they can afford it). Stay tuned for some new

music in the near future!

Chris Aubin is a singer/songwriter who has joined together with some

of his close friends to create a band that can portray the power of

good music without screaming volume or effects. Just good stories,

good melodies, and good fun.

Film Screening: The Grateful Undead

Two fatty fudgeslucks muck up the scene in this bean dream. Lose your

lunch and get on the bus before it’s too late to see… The Grateful

Undead. Made as an experiment to prove that first- time directors May

and Riley could shoot a feature in two weeks for under one thousand

dollars, The Grateful Undead is spontaneous, jarring and weird. A

cinematic affront to the egregiously expensive content that dominates

popular imagination. Features an original score by local musicians,

including the last recorded performance of the epic black metal band

Nefarious.

DC401 Meeting

DC401 is the local Defcon Group for Rhode Island. DC401 is a gathering

for folks interested in the alternate applications of modern

technology, referred to properly as ‘hacking’. DC401 is not intended

to compete with any other computer group, such as Providence Geeks,

2600 or Linux User Groups, but rather to provide yet another gathering

place for the discussion of technology and security topics. DC401

meetings are open to anyone, regardless of their skill, age, job,

gender, etc. DC401 is here to help you learn new things, meet new

people, mentor others in areas you may be strong in, and provide some

cohesion within the hacker culture and it’s members. For more

information, visit http://dc401.org or email dcg401 {at} gmail {dot} comWednesday, March 4, 2009 9pm $6Cockslap, Total Bolsheviks, MeccaLily, and Holy Sheet

Cockslap is part man, part machine – it’s what you’ve been waiting

for. Includes Harrison (A Troop of Echoes) and Justin (Banter/3.1)

plus oscillators, filters, and trucks to bring you the slap you didn’t

even know you needed. Since we know you’ll thank us for it, we’ll say

“you’re welcome”.

The Total Bolsheviks is a 2 piece avant rock band.

Teen Wolf is casio tone dance music.

MeccaLily has been friends since before one of our members was born.

Collectively, we have over twelve decades of experience playing in a

multidude of formats ranging from the indescribable to the slightly

well-known. Our name comes from two paths leading to the future. We

proudly adhere to a sacred and pristine mythos as we attempt to tap

into the great archetypal wisdom born from the process of becoming.
