ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:
The mission of the Gotham City International Film & Video Festival is to provide a meaningful forum in which aspiring filmmakers can communicate their vision.

In addition, this festival is dedicated to promoting New York City, its businesses, neighborhoods and people; embracing and enhancing the revitalization efforts of downtown Manhattan and other emerging areas throughout the city; strengthening arts and education within New York City; and highlighting New York City as the premiere location for the production of independent film.

The 2006 festival will feature 10 feature length films in non-competitive exhibition, and 40 short films and 5 music videos in competitive exhibition.

FEATURE FILM AWARDS:
The feature length film program for the 2006 Gotham City International Film & Video Festival is a non-competitive program. Entrants will compete for a chance to become one of 10 finalists to have his or her film screened in front of New York City audiences during this year’s festival. The Edward Award will be presented to each of the 10 festival finalists.

SHORT FILM & MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS:
Short Film. The Edward Award will be offered in the following categories: Best Overall Film, Best Comedy, Best Animation, Best Drama, Best Foreign, Best Documentary, Best Sci-Fi, Best Horror, Best Student, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Soundtrack, Best Actor and Best Actress.

Music Video. The Edward Award will be offered in the following categories: Best Music Video and Best Director.

FILM AND SHORT FILM CATEGORIES:
The following categories and genres of film are accepted: comedy, animation, drama, foreign, documentary, sci-fi, horror and student. Experimental films will not be considered for this year’s festival.

SELECTION:
Feature Length Film. An independent selection committee is appointed by the festival to view all submissions and select the official festival finalists.. All qualified entries will be considered for inclusion in the festival. Decisions of the selection committee are final.

Short Film & Music Video. All festival short film and music video entries will compete in qualifying contests here on ClickFlicks.net from April 15th – June 15th 2006, with ClickFlicks.net visitors voting for their favorites. The top five music videos and top five short films (in each of 8 categories) will compete as finalists in the 2006 Gotham City International Film & Video Festival competition, to be held in New York City from November 3-5, 2006.

NOTIFICATION/ SHIPPING:
Participants will be notified via email of the selection results by July 1st, 2006. Shipping instructions for works selected for the festival will be included. Any customs or duties charges will be the responsibility of the
film- or video-maker.

Exhibition prints/tapes must arrive at the festival by September 15th, 2006.

ELIGIBILITY:
Works that have previously been submitted to the festival will not be accepted. All works must have been completed after January 1, 2005.
