THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT. The attached “Armed Forces
Salute” Concert Press Folder (containing two Press Releases (long and short
versions), a concert flyer, two photographs of the Lafayette Band and one
photograph of The Hummingbird Trio) is forwarded for media use. We are
seeking the widest publicity throughout the State to urge the people of Rhode
Island to join us on May 9th for this special evening of patriotic music and
tribute to our Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard Members, Veterans and
their families.
The May 9th concert, which is made possible through a grant from the North
Kingstown Arts Council and Centreville Bank, is scheduled one week before
Armed Forces Day 2009. It is a community tribute to the men and women of
the U.S. Armed Forces–past, present and future. The Lafayette Band will
perform a concert of American popular and patriotic music, with special guest
performance by The Hummingbird Trio. The evening’s event will also
include military memorial ceremonies and contemporary and historical military
equipment and uniform displays. The Lafayette Band of North Kingstown is a
non-profit community concert band. Over 125 years old, it is one of the
oldest bands in continuous existence in Rhode Island. Currently the band has
45 members from 13 towns and cities around the state. The band’s mission
is to strengthen North Kingstown and surrounding communities through music
and to that end, we appreciate your assistance in publicizing our May 9th
concert.
