Call for Entries: “smallWORKS on Paper”
NEWPORT, RI: The Newport Art Museum is launching “smallWORKS on Paper,” a new exhibition and sale opportunity for regional artists who are members of the Newport Art Museum. Juror Jessica Hagen will select original works on paper for exhibition and sale in the Museum’s Griffon Shop. Accepted pieces will be shown for three months. If sold, artists will retain a 50 percent commission. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, October 13.
Artists may submit up to 6 pieces and set their own prices for accepted works, although the Museum encourages prices below $350. All art must be matted, backed and either shrink-wrapped or sealed in Mylar. A typed description indicating artist, title, medium, size, year and price must be affixed to the back of the print inside the protecting Mylar. Submit original art only, including limited edition fine art prints such as woodcuts, linocuts, etchings, mezzotints, aquatints, numbered photographs, and paintings on paper. No giclées, photocopies, lithographs or other reproductions will be accepted. Maximum outside dimensions: 16″ X 20″.
Interested artists may drop off works for consideration between Saturday, October 10 and Tuesday, October 13 during normal Museum hours. All artists will be notified of acceptance on Thursday, October 15. All non-selected work must be picked up between Friday, October 16 and Sunday, October 18 during normal Museum hours.
The Newport Art Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday 12 pm to 5 pm. The Museum is located in Newport’s Old Quarter at 76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport RI. For information: http://www.newportartmuseum.org/pages/smallworks.cfm or call (401) 848-8200.
