2010 Newport Annual – Call for Entries
Members’ Juried Exhibition
February 6 – May 24, 2010
Members’ Preview Reception • Friday, February 5 • 5 – 7 pm
JUROR: The juror selecting works this year is Mónica Ramírez-Montagut, Curator of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Previously Assistant Curator of Architecture and Design at the Solomon Guggenheim Museum, NYC, she holds a Ph.D. in Theory and History of Architecture.
PRIZES: Ms. Ramírez -Montagut will award “Best-in-Show”, as well as first prizes and honorable mentions. First prizes come with a cash award. The Museum’s curator, Nancy Whipple Grinnell, will award The Newport Art Museum Award, a future solo show for the winning artist.
ELIGIBILITY: All entrants must be current members of the Newport Art Museum. Membership dues will be accepted when work is delivered.
Each artist may enter one work, executed during the past year, and not previously exhibited in this museum. There are no restrictions on size or media; however, this is a group show. Each work must be clearly labeled on the back with the artist’s name, title and medium. All works must be exhibition ready; the Museum reserves the right to deny entry to any work not properly framed, wired, ready to install or “wet” work. The Museum will insure accepted work (for up to $1,000) while on exhibition; the Museum will not be responsible for works in transit. Artists are responsible for transportation of their work to and from the Museum. The Museum cannot accept work earlier or later than the designated times, nor can it accept work that is mailed, so please make alternate arrangements.
NOTIFICATION: Accepted work will be listed on our website, www.newportartmuseum.org, by number. For those without internet access results will also be provided by calling 401-848-8200, January 27, 2009.
ENTRY FEE: A fee of $15 is required with your entry.
