Island Island Arts Gallery announces two exhibition opportunities!

8th Annual Unjuried Show

March 23 – April 7, 2006

All work submitted is accepted for exhibition! Prizes: Kathleen Hancock, Director of the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Gallery, Bristol Community College, will select the “Best In Show” award. Winning artist receives an all-expenses-paid solo exhibition at Island Arts Gallery. Entry Fee: $20 for three pieces; all mediums; work should be ready to hang.  Drop Off : March 17, 18, 19, 12-4 PM; Island Arts Gallery, 3 Pelham Street, 2nd Floor, Newport, Rhode Island. Reception: Thursday, March 23, 6-8PM. Pick-up: April 8, 9, 12-4PM. Work left after this time becomes the property of Island Arts. Sales Commission: 25% of sale benefits Island Arts, a non-profit community art organization.

Through The Lens

A National Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Photography August 3-25, 2006 Juror: Steve Smith, Photographer and Assistant Professor of Photography, Rhode Island School of Design. Awards: $800 in cash prizes to be awarded at the discretion of the juror. Eligibility: Photographers nationwide utilizing any photographic process in the creation of their work. Application Deadline: May 1 , 2006 Entry Fee: $20 Download application/prospectus at: http://islandartscenter.org/  or email islandarts@gmail.com.Island Arts, founded in 1991, is a non-profit organization offering art classes and creative opportunities for youth and adults.Scholarships are available for students in need. Classes are held at 152 Broadway, Newport and art exhibitions are held at The Island Arts Gallery at 3 Pelham Street, Newport. Island Arts is supported by the generosity of The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, private foundations, individuals,and corporate sponsors. The Center is accessible to persons with disabilities and free parking is available.
