Japan Earthquake Art Relief Hope Fund
The following is a special request from our friend, artist Hiroko Shikashio:
The recent unimaginable earthquake in Japan was so shocking and devastated millions of people.
It was heart wrenching to watch the news. I’ve been tracking their recovery process on a daily basis and the news brings tears to my eyes each and every time. It has been hard to see the devastation from here and not being able to help physically. The remarkable courage is evident among people who lost everything and their incredible eagerness to help each other has brought heartwarming stories.
This really necessitated the need for me to do something to extend a helping hand for those who are struggling to reestablish their life again.
With the generous help of “Crestar” in E. Greenwich supplying the gallery space, we are able to have a fund raising event in the latter part of September at their spacious facility. We hope to raise funds for the Japanese earthquake victims by having art sales and other fund raising efforts.
Artists are encouraged to donate 25% of the proceeds and of course, any amount above and beyond that would be greatly appreciated. Area merchants may donate their merchandise for auction as well.
There is going to be live music and refreshments on the day of event or events.
Please feel free to e-mail me or call me 401-827-0645 if you would like to participate in these special events, “Japan Earthquake Hope Fund”. Please accept my sincere appreciation ahead of time on your parts of extending a helping hand in this event.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this to help others who are in desperate need.
Most Sincerely,
Hiroko Shikashio
