Chorus of Westerly Seeks Singers

The Chorus of Westerly is in search of new adult singers to join them for their 53rd season, George Kent’s final season as music director, beginning this September. The Chorus is also still accepting new child and teenage singers to be a part of the ensemble. For adult voices, the Chorus is in need of singers from all voice parts (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass). Children must be age 8 or older to audition.

Auditions for prospective new members will take place on Tuesday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 6 pm to 9 pm with George Kent. Auditions consist of simple vocal exercises that allow Mr. Kent to assess the singer’s tone, pitch, music reading ability, and overall musical ability. No preparation is required (prepared pieces are not required or part of the audition) for the session with Mr. Kent. Mr. Kent will review with prospective singers an overview of the Chorus season and singing member expectations at the time of audition.

New members of the Chorus of Westerly must be able to commit to the entire season (and sing all of its events). Details of the Chorus of Westerly’s season and rehearsal schedule are available on the ensemble’s website at http://chorusofwesterly.org.

To schedule an audition or to get more information, please call the Chorus office at 401.596.8663 between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Please note the office is closed on Labor Day (September 5, 2011). Auditions will take place at Christ Church in Westerly during the above times, but we ask that all potential applicants schedule an appointment in advance.
