Newport County Arts Community: Participate In ‘Spring Into Art’
INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
ARTS & CULTURAL ALLIANCE OF NEWPORT COUNTY’S
SPRING INTO ART March 23-April 1, 2012
WHAT IS SPRING INTO ART? It is a promotional event to showcase the arts in our community, celebrate Newport County as an arts destination, and mark the 20th anniversary of the Arts & Cultural Alliance. This is the third annual Spring into Art and the first time it has been strategically scheduled to coincide with Newport Restaurant Week—always a big tourist draw—coordinated by the Newport & Bristol Convention and Visitors Bureau.
WHO PARTICIPATES? All arts organizations, galleries, artists, photographers, musicians, dancers, theater companies and other culture providers who have planned or will plan an event. Examples of arts events are a hands-on demonstration, a musical performance, a brief lecture, or even light snacks at a gallery opening or performance.
WHY PARTICIPATE? Artists and culture providers being promoted under this one umbrella brand of Spring into Art is a cost-effective way to get the word out that a plethora of art is being created daily in our community. Spring into Art is an opportunity to attract both new and regular customers. And, it’s a way for the entire community to celebrate its arts and culture. Please join the celebration! ACA will create, print and distribute 5000 brochures with a calendar of events throughout the state of RI.
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE? Submit the participation form, (available at newportarts.org), a photo in jpg format of the exterior of your venue or business, and (optional) a photo(s) of you and/or your art. The information on the form and venue photos will be featured in a large, colorful schedule brochure that will be available in early March and distributed throughout the state of Rhode Island. The photos of you and/or your art will be made available for print and e–media publicity and on our website www.newportarts.org. If a photo of your venue was included in last year’s schedule brochure, no need to send another photo.
DEADLINE: The FIRM deadline for submitting the form and photo(s) is February 6. Please email the form and photos to bettyczech@cox.net.
WHAT IS MY COST? Participation is free for ACA members (artist, performer or business) and $25 for non-members. The ACA membership year renews on March 1, 2012. The membership fee is $20 for individual artists or $100 for business members (non-profit, for-profit, and galleries). Attached is the 2012 membership form. Please mail either your membership renewal or $25 fee to Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport, P.O. Box 746, Newport, RI 02840.
