Congratulations to Sebastian Ruth!
A big shout-out to Sebastian Ruth, founder and director of Community MusicWorks in Providence, who will receive an honorary degree from Brown University at this year’s Commencement ceremony. Congratulations, Sebastian, from all of us!
From the Projo: Brown University will award eight honorary doctorates at its 244th Commencement to distinguished people from fields as diverse as Hollywood, broadcast news, civil rights, politics, sciences, novels, music and political theory.
The eight will get their degrees at the annual commencement, which will be held this year on May 27th on College Hill.
The eight are:
Carolyn Bertozzi, a chemist and immunologist; Viola Davis, the Central Falls native and Oscar-nominated actress; John Lewis, Congressman and civil rights leader; Marilynne Robinson, novelist and Brown graduate; Sebastian Ruth, musician and educator; Diane Sawyer, news anchor and reporter; Gene Sharp, political theorist; and Wei Yang, engineer and university president.
