Seeking volunteer actors to perform in Andy Kaufman play
I have recently put into action a long standing goal of mine and contacted the estate of Andy Kaufman about performing a little known play he wrote back in 1964. I was given permission to hold the performances which will be July 13,14,15 of this year as part of a residency at the theater.
I’ll be holding auditions for said play on Saturday May 5th at the Empire Black Box at 95 Empire (next to AS220) from 11:00am-2:30pm. and by appointment.
About the play: it has all the charm of something written by A.K., simplistic and silly and fun. It contains intergender wrestling (this was written before his foray into this professionally), fake beards and songs. Written by a young Andy Kaufman, it showcases his burgeoning ideas about gender, art and social politics.
I work hard, I play hard. I’m looking for some people to get in on this fun time.
