To support a study to identify the long-term social and cognitive impacts on children and teenagers who received music skill training. The research will examine results from a 50-year longitudinal data collection, the New England Family Study, to demonstrate the impacts of music training on teen and adult criminal behavior and other adverse social outcomes (e.g., substance use, low self-esteem), as well as long-term cognitive effects.

To support free music education and performance programs targeted to reach at-risk children and youth. The Providence String Quartet will be in residence to teach and mentor more than 500 students as well as perform in its downtown storefront facility and in other community venues.
