The Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council has released its new evaluation of the RI Historic Preservation Investment Tax Credit program. RIPEC finds that the economic benefits of the tax credit may support the temporary reauthorization of the credit as a means to stimulate the state’s economy. The report expresses caution about new public expenditures, but concludes that historic rehabilitation projects have had positive effects on jobs and distressed communities.
