ANNOUNCES ITS 12TH ANNUAL SCRIPTBIZ SCREENWRITER’S
WORKSHOP
Aspiring
and Working Screenwriters Engage with Seasoned Professionals in this Day-long
Workshop
(PROVIDENCE, RI * August 1, 2012) FLICKERS:
Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) will be holding its annual
ScriptBiz Screenwriters’ Workshop (now in its
12th year) on
Friday, Aug. 10th at the Rhode Island Foundation, One Union
Station, and a special screening at
3:30 p.m. of Michael Altman’s “American Songwriter” at the Paaf Theatre,
University of Rhode Island, Feinstein Providence Campus
For
an application fee of $85, emerging screenwriters can hone their skills by
interacting with and learning from seasoned industry professionals. This year’s
theme, “From Page to Screen,” takes screenwriters through the entire
screenwriting process, with panel discussions on the ins and outs of writing a
script and the business aspects of getting a script into production, as well as
a special workshop on “pitching your script.”

program will also feature the winner of last year’s RIIFF Screenplay
Competition: screenwriter and author Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold whose
work, “Raising Rufus: A Maine Love Story” will be a central focus of
the workshop.
The
daylong workshop runs from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.and includes the screening
of “American Songwriter.”
