RI Philharmonic appoints Wayne Wilkins as Director of Marketing and Communications

Wednesday, August 08, 2012 – EAST PROVIDENCE, RI: The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School has appointed Wayne Wilkins as Director of Marketing and Communications.  He replaces the former Marketing Director, Pam Kennedy, who is retiring after many years in the position. Wilkins comes to the Philharmonic after seven years as head of marketing for the Rhode Island School of Design’s (RISD) Continuing Education Division. Formerly a Vice President of Marketing and Communications for VH1, Wilkins is also an experienced vocalist, and he has performed with the BSO and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and Providence Singers. Wilkins begins his tenure August 20.

Executive Director David Beauchesne stated “We are thrilled to bring in someone with Wayne’s passion for music and track record of successful leadership in for-profit and non-profit environments. His experience marketing arts education in our region will be a tremendous asset to the education programs of the Orchestra and to the Music School, which are core to our mission and vital to our community. We also look forward to his help raising the visibility of the Philharmonic Orchestra’s phenomenal Classical Series and Amica Rush Hour performances at The Vets.”
