PRONK! Festival seeks hosts for travelling musicians

For the past four years, Providence has been hosting marching bands from around the world come and play a day’s worth of music for the masses at a collectively named venue… PRONK! Festival. (www.providencehonkfest.org for lots of back story)
My band, The Extraordinary Rendition Band (ERB), is teaming up with the What Cheer? Brigade and a handful of other amazing organizers for this year’s PRONK will take place on Monday, October 8th (Columbus day weekend)… We’ve pulled out all the stops for this one and are so excited to be hosting such a great event. It will be a day you won’t forget full of raucous music, marching the streets, dancing, and smiles.
Right now it seems there are at least eight or nine out of town bands coming to Providence… and this is where you all come in.
I’m looking for people who can host… and not just 1 or 2 people… but more like 4-20 people. It will be a one night commitment that will change your life (for the better of course). From my own experience traveling with a 20+ piece marching band, keeping as many people in one place as possible is invaluable. I am indebted to those people who’ve helped my band out in the past and I’ve made some amazing friends because of HONK.
I encourage you… IF HOSTING BANDS IS SOMETHING THAT INTERESTS YOU PLEASE CONTACT ME!
Maybe you and your neighbor are close and would like a bus full of musicians serenading you for one or possibly two nights. Maybe you are a wannabee band groupie. Or maybe you are the shy type who wants to break the cycle of hermitude… whatever your reason I hope to hear from you. Just send me a message and we’ll figure out where to go from there!

P.S. We are also having a fund raiser on September 15th at the Roots Café on Westminster Street. There is a suggested donation of $7-$10. Please come help us make this amazing event worth while for bands that are coming so we can continue to bring them year after year!
