AUDITIONS FOR COURTHOUSE “DRACULA”

Haunted Courthouse also seeking talented local actors

The New Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingston is seeking local union and non-union actors for its October, 2012 production of DRACULA. Auditions are scheduled for Sunday, September 9th from 10AM to 6PM at the Courthouse, (3481 Kingstown Road, West Kingston, RI.) A second audition will be held at Rhode Island College on Monday, September 10th from 6:00 to 11:00 PM.

DRACULA, in an original adaptation by Geoffery Hitch, will begin performances Thursday, October 10th and will run through October 31st playing Wednesday through Saturday @ 8PM with matinees Thursday and Sunday @ 2PM. Rehearsals begin Friday, September 21, schedule TBD. Richard Ericson will direct.

Actors should prepare a classical theater monologue, preferably with a British dialect of their choice. Also interested in monologues from Shakespeare plays. The character breakdown is as follows:

Jonathan Harker; (20s), a barrister. He is young, British, and full of energy and talent. Dr. John Seward (30s), an accomplished young doctor, but a captive of his knowledge.. English. Lord Godalming (20s) a handsome, fun-loving and wealthy English playboy. Good comic actor. Dr. Abraham Van Helsing; (50s-60s) Dutch, he is a doctor, a philosopher and a metaphysician with an iron nerve and a cool temper. Wilhelmina Murray; (early 20s) a lovely, straightforward English girl of great inner strength. Lucy Westenra; (early 20s) A pretty, child-like and very wealthy young Engishwoman. Count Dracula; the dark coachman himself. Must play 20-80; elegant and violent. Renfield; a wild, maniacal laugh releases the animal. Male; physically agile. (30s-40s). Ashley (30s-40s); performer at the Hotel Albermarle, London. Sings “St. James Infirmary Blues.” Doubles as Hungarian nursemaid.
