Creative Time (New York) commissions, produces, and presents art that engages history, breaks new ground, challenges the status quo, and infiltrates the public realm by engaging millions of people in New York and across the globe. The organization is guided by a passionate belief in the power of art to create inspiring personal experiences as well as foster social progress. Creative Time privileges artists’ ideas.

Every fall, Creative Time holds an international Summit on issues of urgency and relevance to the global arts community. This year’s Summit is on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13 and focuses on wealth inequality and creative strategies to mobilize social change. The event is held at New York University, however, this year Creative Time is working with a select group of national and international partners to host live satellite screenings of the Summit. RISD has been designated as one of the Summit’s key partners.

Throughout the day – 10:00 a.m. – 6:45 p.m. — on Friday, October 12 in the Metcalf Auditorium of the Chace Center, RISD will have a live screening of the Summit. We invite all of you, your colleagues and students, and the greater Providence community to participate in this international convening. This is a free event for the community. Please come hear Martha Rosler, Pablo Helguera, LAPD (Los Angeles Poverty Department), Suzanne Lacy, Conflict Kitchen (Pittsburgh), Fernando Garcia-Dory, Slavoj Zizek, Michael Rakowitz, Oda Projesi, Hito Steyerl, Nato Thompson, and others — and join in conversation with our Providence audience.
