RI Artists at the Fuller Craft Museum
The Scale of Things to Come
July 1 – November 19, 2006 reception: July 9, 2-5pm
Studio furniture makers are known for making one-of-a-kind benches, beds, dining tables and other furniture for the home. It’s a lesser know secret that many of these artists also work in miniature, designing scale models, or maquettes, as part of the creative process. Models provide artists the opportunity to visualize their designs in three dimensions while often utlizing multiple parts to determine style, size and proportion. It also provides them with a wonderful presentation tool to communicate their creative vision. Curated by Mark Del Guidice, this extensive exhibition presents an insightful look at the masterful maquettes of John Everdell, Fo Wilson, James Schriber and ten additional makers.
