Island Moving Co. Seeks Booking Agent

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Island Moving Co. is a professional contemporary ballet company based in Newport, RI. Ten years ago, Artistic Director Miki Ohlsen developed a Teambuilding Movement Workshop with Bob Thomas, then professor at the Sloan School of Management at MIT. The workshop, which has been widely praised, uses movement to explore and identify the working skills and styles of individuals and groups. No dance skill or training is required.
The Company seeks a part time booking agent to place the workshop with corporations, educational institutions and organizations that depend on teams. The work can be done in house at the Company’s studios or from another venue. The Company has a substantial file of leads for the workshop, as well as good relationships with the local Convention & Visitors Bureau, local hotels and convention planners in the area. The Company is also willing to travel the workshop.
The Company is run on a collaborative self-management model, which is examined in the workshop, and seeks an imaginative, self-motivated individual to market and book this program. Knowledge of the arts and dance is a plus; knowledge of marketing, booking, connections with or experience of corporate training programs; and an ability to articulate and understand the benefits of this somewhat unconventional training tool are required.
The position will pay an hourly part time wage with commissions on bookings over and above a base number of bookings. There are no benefits associated with the position; Island Moving Co. is an equal opportunity employer.
Send letter of interest and current resume with references to Island Moving Co., PO Box 746, Newport, RI 02840 or to Dominique@islandmovingco.org. www.islandmovingco.org.
