New Urban Arts kicks off their gallery season on October 5th with an engaging exhibit featuring work by 10 New Urban Arts students and alumni created this summer during our second annual Art Inquiry program. The art work explores questions such as “how do we remember?” and “who am I no longer?” as students form new understandings of shrine-making as a creative practice that spans cultures and centuries inspired by a human impulse to make meaning and memory.

“Art shrines resonate with young people,” says New Urban Arts Program Director, Sarah Meyer, “they provide a space for reflecting and interpreting what and who we value, believe, desire, and celebrate.”

- WaterFire Time Change (and Three Apples)

——————————————-

As you may know, I’ll be performing at WaterFire in Providence with the Wippets on Saturday, September 29. The show times have shifted to 8, 9 and 10pm.

The Wippets are an awesome band (think O Brother Where Art Thou — but live) and we’ll be doing three completely different sets.

Set One — Family Stories

Set Two — Big Fat Lies

Set Three — Spooky

If you can’t stay out that late, I’ll be at the Three Apples Festival in Bedford, MA at noon on Saturday the 29th, doing family stories for the younger set
