Rhode Island Independent Performers Network

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Rhode Island Independent Performers Network (RI2PN), through Dance Alliance of Rhode Island, is a grassroots organization of local and regional performing artists who are dedicated to creating new and innovative works for local audiences and developing long range strategies for sustaining life in the arts in Rhode Island. RI2PN currently serves artists in the disciplines of dance, theatre, music, text, performance art and film/video. RI2PN is committed to producing multiple local concerts annually involving traditional, contemporary and experimental forms of performance and has produced over 30 different performing artists in the past 3 years crossing multiple generations, over 14 different disciplines, highlighting independent artists that have performed nationally and internationally. Through the juxtaposition of various artists, this organization provides a unique experience and atmosphere to both the artists and the audiences who participate in these performances. Currently, RI2PN strives to hold a minimum of three presentations of independent performing artists annually: two concert-style productions in professional RI theatres, and Frazier Festival, a free outdoor event at RISD. Performers are offered a modest stipend when presented in a concert setting. Our upcoming presentation, Cheek 2 Cheek: Unexpected Duets, will run Valentines weekend, February 14-17, 2007 at Perishable Theatre, downtown Providence. Won’t you join us in presenting a performance for two? We are looking forward to receiving your completed application (attached) by December 15! Please pass this on to other artists whom you think may find interest. Questions? Memory House at Trinity Rep

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Dowling Theater, TRINITY REP

November 30 - January 6, 2008

The essay question, “What’s in your memory house?” sparks the play. This innocuous question for a college entrance essay prompts a free-spirited 18-year-old to question everything - especially her adoption from Russia.

Unfolding in real time, as one woman struggles to bake a pie while another races to meet a looming deadline, The New York Times calls Tolan’s play “A captivating emotional ballet that is also a moving demonstration of the strenuous work that goes into good mothering.” Tickets are on sale now at the Trinity Rep box office, 201 Washington Street; by phone at (401) 351-4242; and online at www.trinityrep.com.
