Dear Friends,

?

I hope that everyone had a great summer and was able to enjoy the good weather that finally arrived in Providence during the past few weeks. I?m writing to share the news of the success of the Printshop?s first ?Introduction to Screenprinting? taught in Spanish, which took place in July. The opportunity to participate in this class was made available to employees and members of organizations who service the local Hispanic community. We had a great turn out, members of Olneyville Neighborhood Association and English for Action not only made some incredible prints but also were able to share perspectives and ideas about the application of screen printing. This was an invaluable experience for the Printshop, many thanks to all the individuals who contributed to make this opportunity a huge success.

The workshop,?Introducci󮍊a la Serigraf is being offered again during the month of September. The class will take place over two four hour sessions, Sundays 13th and 20th from 1-5pm. We recognize that through your organization, you service the local Hispanic community by promoting the development of cultural and educational opportunities, because of this we would like to invite you to participate in this workshop to not only learn the screen printing process but to get to know your local Community Printshop as well.

In the workshop, students will learn the basics of the photo-emulsion process, a variety of? ways to make positives, how to mix to ink and troubleshoot the process, as well as registration and various printing methods. Supplies will be provided by the Printshop. Students are encouraged to bring drawings, or computer-generated designs to the first class. There are five individual spots available in the class, those interested in participating should respond with a confirmation to this e-mail.

In exchange for the opportunity to participate in one of our workshops, we hope that you can provide us with your opinion and suggestions regarding your experience in the shop. This being a new initiative, we anticipate the possibilities of improving our approach. If you are interested in participating in this opportunity, please respond to this email. Or if you know of any other individuals who might be interested in this opportunity, please forward this email to them.

?

Finally, we would like to invite you to join us on Monday September 28th at 7pm for some food and conversation in the AS220 Community Printshop. The objective of this gathering is to discuss the Printshop?s future plans of providing programming taught in Spanish to the public. We would love to get to know you and have the opportunity to hear your opinions and ideas regarding this initiative. Please R.S.V.P if you plan to attend.
