Magaly Ponce: Video Works
Stairwell Gallery
Tuesday, March 25 * Sunday, June 1, 2008
Video works by Magaly Ponce are inspired by a variety of sources and
may be seen as a cross section of the poetic and the political. The
artist uses her own body, experiences, memories, first- person narration
and metaphoric language to disclose the subject she chooses to present
in all its complexity. While the imagery most often combines material
made by the artist and material appropriated from various sources, for
Ponce the audio and animation as well as digital and analogue editing
are all equally important components in producing her video works. The
screening of Ponce’s video works is a part of Videos in Progress series.
