Victory Gardens!
On Tuesday, May 5, join me at two back-to-back FREE events at Firehouse 13, 41 Central Street in Providence.
First, at 5:30pm, check out “Green Zones: From the War Garden to Your Garden,” a presentation on Victory Gardens, the Women’s Land Army of America, and how gardeners are growing their own food today. I’ll be talking about Rhode Island’s wartime garden movements, Judy Barrett Litoff (Bryant University) will discuss the Women’s Land Army of World War II, and Rich Pederson (Southside Community Land Trust) will present on how and why we grow victory gardens today.
Next, around 7:30pm, it’s the first RI Urban Ag Spring Start Party. Seed swapping, plant sharing, food potluck, drink, music, learning about local garden organizations and projects, and getting to know your fellow gardeners.
Bring some seeds, plants, or a potluck dish, and think spring!
