HELP NEEDED!!!
SPECIAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!

Dear Friends,

I am writing for help regarding a young man from Friday Night Live that many of you know and love. His name is Ari Brisbon. I have a slightly unusual request. I’m writing to see if there is anyone out there who has teaching expertise and would like to help tutor Ari for one semester.

The stakes are high. Ari will only have support from DCYF for 6 more months. After that he’s on his own. He has no family to help him out. As he will need to cover his basic expenses with several part time jobs, paying for school will be almost impossible.

Ari met a teacher from The Boston University Conservatory several summers ago when he had a scholarship to attend Theatrebridge at Brown University. The director of that summer program, Mark Cohen, was so impressed with Ari’s talent that he came to me and said that he thought Ari should attend the theatre program at BU.

In January 2008, Ari completed his application to BU and had an audition for the head of the department of the conservatory who was “blown away”. Unfortunately, Ari’s high school grades were not good enough for him to get into BU. The  director told us that Ari should take a year to get some good grades at a community college and then re-apply.

Ari managed to get three A’s in his spring semester at CCRI but did poorly with his sociology and stage craft classes in the fall semester. These classes need to be re-taken. Ari will need tutoring in Sociology and Stage Craft to pass these courses (specifically, he will need help with the math part in stage craft).

I have heard from Mark Cohen this summer. He said, “I’m thrilled that Ari is keeping the BU dream alive—everyone there would dearly love to see him come to train with us.”

Is there anyone out there that would like to help out and make a huge difference in one young man’s life? Do you know of a good tutor out there with time to help Ari? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much!!!
