2009 Latino Community Celebration

2009 Latino Community Celebration
Cultural celebration to showcase the art, culture and history
of Rhode Island’s diverse Latino community

The Latino CommUNITY Celebration (LCC) planning team and over forty local arts and cultural organizations have partnered to showcase the art, culture and history of the state’s diverse Latino community while highlighting local nonprofit organizations and small businesses.

Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual celebration of Hispanic Americans’ contributions to the United States, their heritage and culture. September 15th marks the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.  Additionally, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, respectively.

LCC is a celebration of Latino art, Culture and heritage organized by Rhode Island State Council on the Arts and the Hispanic Heritage of RI, The City of Providence, the sponsors and community participants.  Latino Community Celebration was first organized in 2009 and has grown to include over 60 participating arts organizations and businesses.

We look forward to the continued growth of the 2012 Latino Community Celebration.
