ANNUAL STATE EMPLOYEES AND RETIRED STATE EMPLOYEES ART EXHIBIT AT THE ATRIUM GALLERY

Drop Off Work in the Atrium Gallery at One Capitol Hill

 

DATE:               June and July of each year


LOCATION:     The exhibit will be in the Atrium Art Gallery, located on the first floor of the William Powers Building (occupied by the RI Department of Administration). The building is at One Capitol Hill, Providence (set back along Smith Street, diagonally across from the State House, beside the old DOT Registry of Motor Vehicles Building).

ELIGIBILITY:   
Open to all present or retired state employees.

ENTRIES:          Artists may submit a maximum of two entries. Work must be original, properly framed (not just matted), and wired for hanging on a flat walled surface.

MEDIA:              Fine Art entries will be limited to two dimensional works in oil, watercolor, acrylic, tempera, gouache, pastel, any type of drawing medium, and mixed media.  Photographic entries must be of an artistic nature.

SIZE:                   Art work or photography exceeding 5’ in height or width  (including frame size) may be refused at the discretion of the jurors due to space limitations.

JURORS:             The RI State Council on the Arts (RISCA) retains the prerogative of not accepting a particular work if it fails to meet eligibility criteria.
 
AWARDS:            Various awards of excellence will be made at the discretion of RISCA.

DELIVERY:          All fine art and photography entries must be delivered on June 15, 2009 between 7:30 am and 10:00am.

REMOVAL DATES:      
                             Work not accepted notification will be made promptly. It will be the artist’s or photographer’s responsibility to make arrangements to pick up their work ASAP.  
                             Work accepted – all work must remain for the duration of the exhibit.  It must be picked up on the last business day of July between 7:30 am and 10:00am. If unable to pick up your work at that time please call 222-3880 to make special arrangements.

INSURANCE:
       Artwork is covered only for a limited amount under the standard policy, which covers the William Powers Building. Upon submission of work for this show, all artists agree to waive any rights to damages to their work, which are not covered by the state policy mentioned.

SALES:                  No sales prices can appear on art work submitted for the show or on listings of work provided as handouts to the general public. However, handouts will provide the names of the artists, titles of the artwork or photography and home phone numbers of artists who might wish to have people contact them about their work.
